added new group: "Exchange and PTW"

Hi,
I have added a new group to the Hive: "Exchange and PTW". The purpose of this group is to make it easy to write blogs (or other content types like pictures) and also to make it easy to locate them. An other purpose is to enable targetted e-mail notifications, because you receive an e-mail notification when you are subsribed to this group and anyone posts anything to the group. Effectively, the Exchange related topics are transported from the "The Hive" group to the new group, because the "The Hive" group is supposed to discuss Hive features.

There is only one problem: it's a brand new group, so nobody is subscribed yet! When nobody is subscribed, there is no audience and when there is no audience there is no incentive to post any content. And when there is no content it isn't attractive to subscribe.... we have to break that circle, and do it quickly because Exchange begins in just one week. I want to send group invitation e-mails to roughly everyone who is also subscribed to the Hive group. Yes, I realize that it is mass-mail and thus almost spam. Am I allowed to do that?

Jurjen.

re: added new group "Exchange and PTW"

I have tried to send all OpenEdge Hive users an invitation email for the new "Exchange" group (at http://www.oehive.org/Exchange) but that failed of course, thanks to spam protection.

What I have done now, as a workaround, is: select all subscribers of the Hive group and the OOABL group and added them to the Exchange group. So almost everyone is a subscriber now. I hope a majority agrees. If not it is easy enough to unsubscribe at http://www.oehive.org/Exchange.

Thanks,
Jurjen.
